FIRST Tech Challenge SC Championship 2014 Updates

We’d like to apologize that some of these updates have come out so last minute as they have, things have been in the process of being temporarily sorted out in terms of parking for some time now. USC Parking Services charges quite a lot for parking cars on our campus and without the appopriate information that we requested we were unable to secure the needed spots even with it being a weekend. We apologize deeply for the inconvience and we hope otherwise that you enjoy the event we have put together.

The schedule for the 2014 South Carolina Championship can be found here:

The map for the Pit area of the ballroom can be found here:

Address: Russell House University Union, 1400 Greene St, Columbia, SC 29208

A unfortunate situation arose since we did not recieve enough information from all teams as requested to obtain a full parking lot for team vehicles. Therefore we are left in the tough situation of having teams use guest parking as now all competitors are considered USC Visitors. Here is the exerpt from USC’s Parking Services webpage to help you and your team find parking. Large vehicles will be able to park in our Machine shop parking lot and the drivers will be shuttled to and from the russell house. The exerpt from the USC webpage follows:

Campus visitors may obtain a free one-day visitor permit from the Visitor Center. The visitor permit is valid in various lots throughout campus. Metered parking is also available on campus for visitors.

USC meters are enforced Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. All USC meters limited to 15 minutes are enforced from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Malfunctioning meters should be reported to Parking Services or the USC Police Department

USC meter spaces are located in the following campus locations:

Pendleton garage, levels 1A, 1B, and 2A
BA lot, top level, Barnwell and Pendleton Streets
1700 block of College Street
Capstone and Columbia Hall, Barnwell Street
Sumter Street garage, top level, Sumter Street
Petigru, off Greene Street
Sims/Patterson Hall circle off Bull Street.

Parking meter cards for all-day parking may be purchased at a cost of $5 per day and are valid in the two- and five-hour USC metered areas on campus. USC meters are marked as such. These cards are not valid at City of Columbia street meters.

Hourly parking is available in the Bull Street, Horizon and Discovery Plaza garages from 7a.m. until 11 p.m., Monday–Friday. Only those vehicles with valid Bull Street, Horizon and Discovery Plaza garage permits are allowed use of the garage between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. There is no free parking at any time. Any vehicles parked in the garage without a valid permit will be ticketed and/or towed at the owners’ expense.

Teams as you arrive to the Russell House University Union you will see signs and staff awaiting your arrival telling you where to unload. You will go through the USC Greene Street Gates into the Union and temporarily park with your hazard lights flashing as you unload. You will then proceed out the gates on the opposite side of the russell house and follow the construction signs that only allow traffic to turn RIGHT. From there you will have the opportunity to find a place to park using the above parking services exerpt as a guide along with the following USC Campus map.
